Traffic
Atlanta traffic is the running joke that's actually true. I-285 and I-75/85 are perpetually congested. The MARTA subway is limited geographically. Account for a 35–60 minute commute in most suburb-to-downtown scenarios.
When Atlanta Wins
Atlanta is the right financial choice for almost anyone who wants a real city with real cultural amenities, big-employer career options, and housing that hasn't lost touch with national averages. The only places it loses are (a) raw tech wages (Seattle, Austin, SF higher) and (b) zero-state-tax efficiency (Texas, Florida better on take-home).
